Movie makers have always been fascinated by casino gambling, which is why many of them have opted to make movies with a gambling theme. Vegas casinos offer everything you could want in a Hollywood movie plot. You have glamour, greed, sex and violence, the whole package for an entertaining movie. One of the best gambling movies ever is Casino (1995).
This movie stars Oscar Award Winner Robert De Niro who offers a stellar performance as a casino proprietor. The movie is an insight into the lives of people in the real Las Vegas. Other popular actors like Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci star in this film. The Ocean 11 movie from 1960 was a huge hit and so was its remake in the 2001. The movie is about Danny Ocean, a con artist who pulls of the biggest heist in Vegas ever. The Ocean’s series starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon was a huge sensation.
Bugsy (1991) is a popular gambling movie which tells us the story of former mob boss Bugsy Siegel, whose love for Virginia Hill motivated him to create the Flamingo. The movie stars Annette Bening and Warren Beatty. Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998), is Guy Ritchie’s rendition of London’s underground gambling scene. The movie is quite an entertainer and follows Quentin Tarantino’s raw style of movie making. And finally one of the most memorable gambling movies has got to be The Sting (1973) that bagged 7 Oscars including Best Picture. The movie features a great poker scene and is a cinema classic.
