Martin Scorsese to remake The Gambler

Looks like Martin Scorsese’s new venture has already ruffled a few feathers. The famed Hollywood director is to direct the remake of “The Gambler” which was a hit in 1974. However, the original director and writer of the movie James Toback, does not seem all that pleased with the current happenings. Even though Toback is known to be a friend of Scorsese and the DiCaprio who is expected to play the leading role, he was not shy of making his displeasure public in an email to an online magazine.

DiCaprio has not yet signed on for the leading role, so it is left to be seen whether Scorsese and DiCaprio can work their magic again. The role that DiCaprio will be playing would be that of a New York English professor and his addiction to gambling. Anyone who has followed the works of this duo, know that they are in for a top class movie. Some of the projects that saw the two of them working together are “Gangs of New York”, “The Aviator”, “The Departed” and “Shutter Island”.

While fans of the director and actor are eagerly awaiting the final news on this remake of one of the best gambling movie of all time, Toback is left fuming.
